A comprehensive book on biological variations of corn (maize), authored by MU scientists, is being distributed to scientists and teachers around the US and the world. The book is "Mutants of Maize", authored in 1998 by Gerry Neuffer, now Emeritus Professor; Ed Coe, now Emeritus Professor and Geneticist (retired) of USDA/ARS; and Sue Wessler, Regents Professor, University of Georgia. Hundreds of outstanding photographs, descriptions, and data summaries about the genetics of corn are included. Published by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Press, the book is widely used in schools and laboratories. The closeout supply was recently acquired from the publisher and is being distributed courtesy of the maize group at Missouri. Photographs, descriptions, and data summaries for the same genetic variations and thousands more are at www.maizegdb.org, the Maize Genome Database, which was designed and assembled by Coe with Mary Schaeffer at Missouri and is currently conducted cooperatively in Iowa State and in Missouri.
