Research in the Davis laboratory includes both structural and functional genomes. Specific research areas are: 1) Genome organization including genetic and physical mapping and relationship of gene order across species; 2) Aflatoxin reduction in maize; 3) Pest resistance in maize including fall armyworm, southwestern corn borer, and corn rootworm; 4) Maize root architecture in relation to drought response. Dr. Davis was a coPI on the Maize Mapping Project and was also a coPI on an NSF funded project studying drought response in maize roots.
